In this computer science course, students explore foundational concepts of discrete mathematics and their applications within computing. Students develop the reasoning and problem-solving skills needed for formal logic, mathematical proofs, number theory, and set theory. Through these topics, they learn to analyze and solve problems that underpin advanced areas of computer science, including cryptography, data structures, and algorithm design.
Prerequisites
Completion of IT-CS 143 with a grade of 2.0 or higher; AND Completion of MATH &142 with a grade of 2.0 or higher or placement into MATH& 151 or higher; AND admission to the Bachelor of Science Computer Science Degree; OR permission from a Computer Science program advisor.
