Health and Wellness

Pathways in the Health and Wellness Area of Interest provide you with a foundation for several medical and health-related careers, including preparation for Nursing, Dental, Medical, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Veterinary and many more. You will deepen your understanding of social and structural mechanisms that inform health and wellness and will be immersed in interdisciplinary coursework which includes courses in math, natural science, communication and psychology. You will gain skills in problem-solving, analytical thinking and communication, all of which are critical to success in Health and Wellness related careers.

Outcomes:

• Enhances critical thinking and problem-solving abilities using systems thinking
• Acquires a solid foundation in synthesis of data, scientific thinking, and inquiry/use of scientific process
• Cultivates effective interpersonal communication and teamwork skills and collaborative problem-solving
• Evaluates lived experiences and inequities present in healthcare including awareness of health and healthcare inequities within the US healthcare system
• Understands information needs and the value of information
• Practices essential skills
