EDP, H, IL- In this course, students analyze dramatic texts and performances to gain a deeper understanding of narrative, character development, language use, spectacle, and of the cultural exigency of dramatic arts. Students will attend a dramatic performance, screen television episodes or films, and read dramatic literature aloud in class, exploring multiple dramatic genres. Students will consider how different production elements affect an audience and how dramatic texts represent diverse characters, tropes, narrative structures, and the ideologies underlying the worlds these characters inhabit.
